Layne Mullin, age 48 residing in Frisco, Texas. After many years of stress, overeating, lack of exercise, and other abuse to my body, I quit smoking in December of 2005. I thought I would feel so much better, but I didn’t. I went to the doctor 100 days after quitting and I was diagnosed with type-2 diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure, all due to my extreme obesity. I began taking prescriptions to control them, with more weight gain being a side effect. About a year later I needed a surgery for a sinus condition and had to get clearance from a cardiologist to have it performed. That doctor asked if I had considered a lap-band, to which I replied that I thought perhaps I should try diet and exercise before undergoing such an extreme remedy. I am 5’10” tall and weighed 367 pounds at the time. After that surgery two things changed my life. They were: finding a new internist, who told me to eat less and exercise more or I would be lucky to see age 60 and finding StaYoung Fitness. I started the journey to regain my health by LISTENING to what my doctor and StaYoung Fitness told me to do and then DOING what they said. To date I have lost over 163 pounds. After the first 90 days working with StaYoung Fitness I was off the diabetes, cholesterol and high blood pressure medicines. Just knowing that I could turn myself over to Randy and Marc, and trust in their knowledge helped me immensely. They have always known what to do, how to adjust, and how to progress me in the most effective manner. The atmosphere in the gym is always positive. My advice to anyone trying to lose a few pounds or a considerable amount of weight is to be patient. Understand that the weight did not appear overnight, and it won’t disappear overnight either. My goals are to simply to keep eating healthy and get pushed a little harder everyday by StaYoung Fitness. I am happy and blessed to be living a healthy lifestyle. My favorite quote is, “If it is to be, it is up to me.” To that I add… “and the folks at StaYoung Fitness.”

Just when I was getting in a rut in life – physically, emotionally, socially, and having an overall feeling of “blah” – along came Marc, StaYoung Fitness, and his 5:30 a.m. (or 5:15 for the “Early Birds”) bootcamp class. I have had many personal trainers and been a member of other gyms for many years. But it wasn’t until I started bootcamp that it all opened up for me! I gained more energy, toned up, lost pounds, and, most importantly, had fun!! Thanks to everyone there, I had the motivation to kick my workout up a notch or two to reach my personal fitness goals, and in a very timely manner. I am proud to say that I am currently smaller than I have EVER been in my life (wearing single-digit-sized clothes) and in the best shape I have EVER been (I have just completed running my third ½ marathon)!!! I know that what I have learned there will last a lifetime!!
